General Class Descriptions
The following are descriptions of classes/programs typically offered at most of the Charles County Senior Centers. Please check your SCOOP, or call your Center for availability, dates, and times. Most programs listed are ongoing, and are offered each month.
Fitness/Health Programs

PACE • People With Arthritis Can Exercise
Certified instructors will lead this class that offers easy movements and exercises to keep joints supple, muscles strong and improve overall flexibility.
Advanced PACE
Achieve muscle and bone strength, some cardiovascular benefit, and stretching exercises. Registration is required.
Healthscope Visit the Nurse
Blood pressure screening and private consultations with a registered nurse are offered. No appointment is required.
Fitness Training
Exercises designed to reclaim variety of movement and strength that help make living pleasurable. This is a 3-part exercise program of aerobics, toning, and stretching.
Flex & Stretch
Video-piloted exercise program.

Strength Training
This class combines low-impact aerobics with resistance training to help increase strength, cardio-vascular endurance, and flexibility.
Drop-In Line Dance
This weekly class covers old and new line dances. No partner needed. Join us for a fun and easy work out while you learn some new steps.
Drop-In Line Dance at Elite
Instruction on the newest line dances and popular steps.
Location: Elite Gymnastics & Recreation Center.
Leisure Time/Instructional Classes
Ceramics
Learn painting and glazing techniques, enjoy friends, and have fun. Make beautiful and useful gifts for family and friends.
Oil Painting Class
Instructor: Sara Frances Fee: $5 plus supplies 10:00-1:00 Wed Jul 14/28 10:00-1:00 Wed Aug 11/25
Reflections
Non-denominational biblical discussions. Facilitators vary by Center. Not offered at all Centers.
Programs Specific to the Clark Center

Beginner Computer Class
Computer class for those with no prior computer experience. Preregistration required. Call for date and time.
Intermediate Computer Class
Computer class for those with prior computer experience. Preregistration required. Call for date and time.
Caregivers Support Group
Information and support provided for those caring for older adults. Open to the public. Call for date and time.
Newcomers Coffee
The Newcomers Coffee is a nice way to get to know your fellow participants and is open to all who have registered throughout the current month. Members of the Richard R. Clark Senior Center Council will be hosts to greet you. Learn about activities at the Center and have an opportunity to ask questions. Offered at 10:00 A.M., the last Friday of every month. Call the Center for details.

All your Social Security information can be updated right here. This service is available to everyone, regardless of age. Check with the Clark Center for date and time.
