Special Olympics Maryland Charles County offers sports opportunities for athletes in 16 team and individual skills sports. We offer at least one sport for each of the four seasons. By clicking on an icon above you can learn more about that particular sport.

Special Olympic sports follow the National Governing bodies sports rules, with minimal exceptions or rule changes. Athletes are required to train a minimum of eight weeks and attend two qualifying competitions in order to advance to the culminating Special Olympics Maryland Sports tournament.

In all of our sports athletes are placed in divisions according to ability levels, age, and gender. This division gives all of our athletes an equal chance to win. All of our athletes are winners, and no one goes un-rewarded. Awards range from a participation ribbon to the bronze, silver, and gold medals.
