Passenger Rights & Responsibilities
Passengers have the right to receive safe and reliable transportation service when using VanGO. Passengers are entitled to a driver who maintains control over their vehicle to the best of their ability and passengers have the right to ride in clean, temperature-controlled vehicles that are properly maintained and driven in a safe and defensive manner.
It is a passenger's right to receive service on-time and at a reasonable cost.
All passengers have the right to be informed about their transportation system. This is accomplished through fliers which are posted on all buses and through outreach conducted by Department of Community Services staff.
Passengers have certain responsibilities when aboard VanGO vehicles.
Passengers are expected to be courteous to drivers and other passengers. VanGO strives to operate and maintain a safe and reliable transportation service. To ensure this, passengers are to adhere to VanGO rules and regulations. To ensure our vehicles remain clean for our customers, no eating, drinking, or smoking on vehicles is permitted. No language or conduct offensive to others is permitted on board VanGO vehicles. All passengers must remain seated while the vehicle is in motion if seats are available. Any passengers standing must not be forward of the white lane located at the front of the bus.
In the event of an emergency aboard VanGO vehicles, 911 will be called.
Conduct or language offensive to others, or that interferes with driver operations, will result in the driver giving a verbal warning, advising that a rule violation has occurred. The driver may stop the vehicle at a safe place when issuing the warning if they desire. Any time during this process, the driver may also radio the VanGO office to report problems.
If the actions or behavior continue after a verbal warning has been issued, the driver will stop the vehicle, if there is a safe place to pull over, and radio the VanGO office to report the problem. A manager or supervisor from the office will meet the vehicle and attempt to stop any disturbances. Local law enforcement will be contacted if it is determined that such action is necessary or advisable.
VanGO services may be suspended or terminated for passengers who violate VanGO rules of conduct.
