Route Descriptions
Nanjemoy (Orange)
The Nanjemoy route was revised, effective July 1, 2005, to provide one continuous run from Nanjemoy and Chicamuxen to La Plata and back. The route begins with a subscription run for passengers who need to get to employment in La Plata by 7:00 A.M. Subscription service requires registration. The form may be downloaded here or obtained from the Department of Community Services main office, or the Nanjemoy Community Center.
After a brief layover at the transfer point in La Plata (Wal*Mart), the Nanjemoy route becomes a fixed service run. Although only one vehicle provides the service in Nanjemoy, the schedule is divided into different service runs in order to help passengers understand the direction the route is traveling.
Service Run A runs from the La Plata transfer point via Route 6 through the Nanjemoy community to the Nanjemoy Community Center. From there, it continues back to La Plata through Chicamuxen via Route 225. Service Run B runs from the La Plata transfer point via Route 225 through Chicamuxen to the Nanjemoy Community Center. From there, it continues back to La Plata through Nanjemoy via Route 6. Each time the route arrives at the La Plata transfer point, it alternates direction. Helpful hints are provided on the schedule to assist passengers in determining the quickest way to arrive at their destination.
Flag stops are permitted along the Nanjemoy route (see information under the Passenger Information/Planning Your Trip section of this website), and deviations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
