911 Addressing
It has been said many times that the reason to address and implement 9-1-1 systems is to reduce the time it takes to respond to an emergency situation.
This dialogue example is based on an actual incident. While not all calls for help from an unaddressed rural area require the amount of time demonstrated in this example, many do.
With this particular incident, the man had in fact had a stroke. By the time the ambulance arrived his wife was so distressed that she too was in immediate need of medical attention due to an aggravated heart condition. Had the unit not arrived when it did, both would have died that night.
