Animal Control

Tri-County Animal Shelter (TCAS)serves the animal needs of Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties. We are the only government-run shelter for the tri-county area.

Lost and stray animals are housed here waiting to be claimed by their owners, and animals are available for adoption.

Pets are an important part of our communities. Please help us keep our counties safe, clean and friendly places to live through responsible, humane pet ownership.

County pet licenses are available for sale for Calvert, Charles and St. Mary’s Counties with proof of rabies vaccination.

The Charles County Department of Emergency Services/Animal Control Division is recruiting volunteers to assist in the response to animals during disasters such as tornadoes, fire, electrical storms, and more. We are looking for volunteers to work with rescue efforts, sheltering, and administrative capacities.
