Operations is responsible for the County’s centralized computing platform, the IBM iSerie’s eServer 9406-820 and the twinaxial devices connected. Using IBM’s Client Access and Host-On-Demand (HOD) software, Operations shares responsibility with the Network Division of enabling the users on the CCGNET to access the eServer 820. Operations area of responsibility also include hardware and system maintenance for the eServer 820, technical support to the IT staff and users, backup and continuity planning, coordination between VoiceMail and the telephone system, Permits Interactive Voice Response (IVR) administration, eServer 820 system security, and the day to day operation and performance of the eServer 820 system.
Operations has the added responsibility of maintaining the County Government’s IT contingency plan. This involves coordinating with each department and other entities to ensure the minimum disruption to County services in the event of the lost of eServer 820 computer resources.
