Public Boat Launch
A single-lane boat ramp located on Nanjemoy Creek, a tributary of the Potomac River. Parking exists for approximately 16 trailers. This facility features good access to the main stem of the Potomac and also to the extensive, immediate protected waters of the Nanjemoy Creek. Open year-round, dawn to dusk. No ramp fee. Directions: From La Plata, take Route 6 West. Left on Route 425. Left on Friendship Landing Road. Follow to end.
Marshall Hall Boat Launching Facility
A double ramp launching facility located on the shores of the Potomac River. Paved trailer parking for 25 boat trailers with available overflow parking. Ramp is situated just above Greenway Flats in the Mount Vernon area of the river.
Open year-round, dawn to dusk. No ramp fee.
Directions: From I-495 Beltway, take Route 210 (Indian Head Highway) south to Charles County. At first traffic signal in Charles County, make right turn onto Route 227. Follow to end of road.
Gilbert Run Park
Gilbert Run Park is located 8 miles east of La Plata on Route 6. Within this scenic wooded
parkland are hiking and nature trails, picnic areas (grills and tables), picnic pavilions, playground areas, and fishing piers. The main attraction is a 60 acre fresh water lake which affords fishing, pedal boating, rowboating and canoeing. Fishermen are able to catch bass, bluegill, trout and catfish. A boat ramp is also provided for your convenience (electric motors only). Park visitors can also enjoy the Nature Center which features a 150 gallon aquarium and a variety of natural specimens. Also available to the public are fishing supplies, fishing licenses and concessions. Gilbert Run Park is opened from March to November with seasonal hours of operation.

Hatton Creek Boat Launching Facility
This single-lane ramp gives protected small boat access to the Wicomico River. Excellent location for recreational crabbing and fishing. Good kayak area. Open year-round, dawn to dusk. No ramp fee.
Directions: From La Plata, take Rt. 301 south. Left on Rt. 257 towards Cobb Island. Left on Hatton Creek Road. Follow to end.
