SCRAP TIRESScrap tires are an environmental hazard. They not only provide good living conditions for mosquitoes that can spread diseases such as West Nile Virus, they also emit dangerous oils and soots into our air and water when burned illegally. In addition to recycling tires, you can help our environment by purchasing retreaded tires, keeping tires properly inflated, which will extend their life, and by puncturing holes in tires that are being used for swings, pier bumpers, etc. Passenger size scrap tires are accepted at most of our recycling centers. Bulk loads and commercial size tires are only accepted at the landfill recycling center. Two residential scrap tires per visit are accepted free of charge. Scrap tires are accepted for a minimal fee (see below) at the Charles County Landfill/Recycling Center, Pisgah Recycling Center, Breeze Farm Recycling Center, and Gilbert Run Recycling Center. Scrap Tires ARE NOT accepted curbside The current fee to supplement the disposal cost for each additional passenger size care tire is detailed below. TIRES ONLY (no rims)
