2006 Comprehensive Plan

The current Comprehensive Plan was adopted in 2006 to guide land use development in Charles County for the next 20 years. The land use plan contains policies addressing land use, public facilities, economic development strategies and environmental protection. The land use map identifies the type and density of development by land use district that is envisioned throughout the County.

Article 66B of the Annotated Code of Maryland requires jurisdictions to periodically review their Comprehensive Plans and implementation measures. The Economic Growth, Resource Protection, and Planning Act of 1992 (Growth Act) that amended Article 66B requires jurisdictions, at intervals of no more than six years, to review and if necessary, update their Comprehensive Plans.
